19th December 1872

About half past two on Thursday morning, the premises of T.G. Messenger, Horticultural Builder, were discovered to be on fire. The adjoining buildings were in danger. The illumination from the conflagration attracted thousands of spectators from all parts of the town. The loss must be considerable as the premises are a complete wreck.
